We had Sara numerous times throughout my husband's two week stay. Every time we had her as our nurse she would come in with a big smile first thing in the morning. Always wanting to know how his night went, how he slept, and what she could do for us. My husband likes to kid and she was awesome with him, playing right back into his humor. She also would explain in detail what we could expect that day with the doctors, various tests, and medicine he was going to receive. Sara was such an advocate for us, with not only the doctors but also their interns and other staff. She was there to offer her time and help to us.
The first day we had Sara as our nurse, I told her I wanted to be sure our insurance was handled correctly. The next thing I knew, Sara sent an RN advocate in to see me. We worked together to be sure everything was done correctly.
I asked a lot of questions and Sara was always there to answer them or find the answer. She became an integral part of our day. My husband has a brain tumor and was experiencing a lot of brain swelling which caused severe aphasia, diminished comprehension, and so much frustration. Sara was great with him, she was patient and really listened to what he was trying to verbalize. She took control of every situation and guided us through it. I knew from the first day we had her that I wanted to say thank you.
