We would like to especially recognize Sara from CCU for her outstanding performance in caring for our mother during her 22 days at St. Joseph's. Sara always provided exceptional care to our mother and was the first to identify that my mother had suffered a mild stroke. Without Sara's close attention to details, my mother's stroke may have gone undetected. Sara's skilled eye identified the subtle signs of her dropping lips and tilted head. Sara also stayed focused when tests were required, orchestrating the timing to ensure minimal discomfort when moving my mother or changing her position.
Sara provided my mother with wonderful and compassionate care in her final days on earth. She also offered me the comfort I needed after my mother made her decision to end all medical treatment due to her overwhelming health issues. When I stepped out of the room to grieve, I could hear Sara talking to my mother. Sara, knowing my mother's days were now limited, was offering her whatever nutrients she would accept.
We were there for 12 plus hours every day while my mother was in the hospital. We had the opportunity to observe the true stars of the hospital, on the cardiac care unit and especially in CCU. We believe Sara is a true DAISY Nurse.
