Before even meeting with and beginning my cardiac rehab treatment, Sara displayed a warm and compassionate personality. I knew from our initial telephone call that she was going to be fun to work with, and boy, has she made my rehab enjoyable! Every concern I had, she stopped what she was doing and gave me her undivided attention to answer/respond to my thoughts. Sara constantly encouraged and enthusiastically rooted for all of the patients on the rehab floor and warmly introduced new patients who were beginning their treatment. It felt like I was a part of a special club of people, a group that this nurse clearly cares for and loved us in her own way. On “graduation day” from my designated set of visits, Sara presented me with a lovely certificate of completion, some important post-treatment self-care papers, and a “graduate” t-shirt. The manner in which she made the presentation in front of the room was a genuine heartfelt pride, care, and interest. It hurt my heart (in a good way) to hug her goodbye and especially as she clapped for me to “ring the bell!” on my way out the door. I will miss her delightfully positive attitude as she has helped me become heart-aware and helped me focus on my new heart journey forward.
