September 2021 Honoree
Sara J Haberer, RN
Sara cared for my 92-year-old father while he was an inpatient; her kindness and patience were immediately felt by my father and also myself (as an RN who knows the demands of RN on Med/Surg Units). She never made us feel like we were “high maintenance” but my father with severe bilateral essential tremors had many time-consuming needs. Without a CNA she provided a high level of care, coordinating frequently changing orders, my dad’s pain issues, many medications, and still made us feel like she was not only his advocate but a valued person. She has a very calming professional approach that helped my father feel more in control. My dad soon realized the difference Sara made on how his care was managed and that she was really listening to him! The complexities of my father’s diagnosis as well as other medical conditions left little time for TLC. Touches that make patients actually “feel cared about.” Her passion for the care of Veterans is very evident!!
Thank you, Sara, for your exceptional compassion, advocacy, and dedication to your patients. You truly make a difference.
