June 2024 Honoree
Sara Johnson 2024, RN
I came into the ER with decreased fetal movement. When I got into a room, my fiancé and I were told that we had lost our daughter at 32 weeks. We were given the option to proceed with induction that night or wait a couple of days, and we decided to go ahead that night. Sara Johnson was the nurse who was assigned to us that first night. She did everything in her power to make my fiancé and me comfortable while we were going through this loss. She took very good care of us. When her shift ended, I still had not had our baby, so she came back that night to help me progress even more. I had my baby at 1146am two days later (which was not her shift, so she had already gone home). However, when she did come back that night, she came to see me in the postpartum unit and asked to see pictures of my daughter. She told us how beautiful she was. This nurse truly made this awful experience bearable and I’m forever grateful that we had a nurse who understood what we were going through.
Thank you, Sara, for your exceptional compassion, advocacy, and dedication to your patients. You truly make a difference.
