I was on the brink of postpartum depression, but Kailey saw my struggle and went above and beyond to not only listen to me, but she also anticipated my needs and my son's needs.
Kailey was the 1st RN I came in contact with and cared for my 4-week old son. I am a healthcare provider and to suddenly be in this powerless position was terrifying. Additionally, the stressors of a newborn and recovering postpartum is incredibly vulnerable. I was on the brink of postpartum depression, but Kailey saw my struggle and went above and beyond to not only listen to me, but she also anticipated my needs and my son's needs. She thought critically in medically caring for my son, saw how I was struggling, and helped me by caring and feeding him so I could sleep. It may sound basic but these encounters are the difference in a mental break versus feeling like you will survive a child's sickness. She came into work extra overtime when the unit was very busy and I never felt like she did not have time for us. She is an incredible nurse that embodies all the aspects of this award.
