I was in the hospital for 12 days. In this lengthy time, Sara went above and beyond! She didn’t just focus on meds and making rounds; she made it known she cared about my mental health and took time to sit with me and talk. She was there in a split second when my light lit up. She listened when I was crying. She made sure my team would listen to me. She ensured I was comfortable and established boundaries in situations where I wasn’t. She was my voice when no one would listen. She was my sanity when I felt alone. She checked on me even though I didn’t call for help. She made sure to care for my family, too, even though I was the one being treated. She genuinely gave me a sense of safety both mentally and physically, and I truly hope I get to see her again one day outside of the hospital to truly thank her for something that probably seems so little to her but will forever be important to me!
