February 2015 Honoree
sara rogers 0, RN
Sara exemplifies the position of a compassionate nurse. She listens to patients' concerns, fears and problems and acts as an advocate for all of her patients.
She had a patient who was extremely afraid of an MRI, developing high anxiety despite being medicated for anxiety. Sara was able to arrange her schedule, coordinate with MRI and travel with the patient to MRI. She stood in the MRI room and held the patient's hand to reassure him during his procedure. He was able to tolerate the procedure which allowed the physician to obtain much needed information to formulate a plan of care. I wish we could clone Sara as she is the prime example of a caring, compassionate nurse, as we all should be.
