Want to pass on what I see as a positive.
I am referring to a newer charge nurse, Sara Swiney.
How I have really seen her grow. She checks not only on patients, and her leadership has really be Shining through. She diffused a situation between myself and EVS this morning. She then consoled one of the other nurse’s who was having difficulty in processing the death of a patient who was not expected to pass. Sara was so gentle in talking to this nurse and let her know “this is sometimes how we know we are caring and love what we do, when a situation of such a sweet patient appreciates us and then hears the unexpected”. “We feel the loss,and need to process it. Can I help you talk to anyone else?”

She is really feeling this job and I see more confidence in her as she deals with many unexpected issues from patient OD, aggressive to the very ill or cardiac arrests. She obtains meds to help the nurse’s and grabbing a call light or helping with other needs along with the daily Rx questions and issues.
For what it’s worth, I feel she is that nurse, most nurse’s want to be.
