I would like to nominate Nurse Sara for the DAISY Award because she went above and beyond in every way while caring for my husband, D, during one of the most difficult times of our lives. 

From the moment Sara stepped into D’s room, there was a calmness and compassion in her presence that immediately made us feel seen, heard, and safe. She didn’t just care for his physical needs- she cared for us as people. She took time to explain every detail of his care plan with patience and kindness, never rushing, and always listening. No question was too small, no concern dismissed. She treated D with dignity, even when he was scared, frustrated, or in pain, and somehow always managed to bring a sense of peace into the room. 

But what stood out the most was the way she cared. Sara made us feel like family. She learned his preferences, paid attention to the little things that made him more comfortable, and constantly offered encouragement- not just to D, but to me, too. On days when I was overwhelmed, she would check in on me with a soft word or a comforting glance, reminding me I wasn’t alone. 

In a world where healthcare can sometimes feel rushed or impersonal, Sara reminded us of the heart and soul behind the profession. She was our anchor during a storm. I will never forget her presence, her strength, or the deep compassion she extended to us. Sara exemplifies everything the DAISY Award stands for. She is a healer, a comforter, and a true blessing. We are forever grateful for her.
