My husband was in a very serious car accident. Due to his injuries, his arm had to be amputated. My husband was hospitalized for two weeks and underwent 7 surgeries during his time there. This undoubtedly has been the hardest thing we have ever been through. We cannot begin to express how grateful we are for the care he received from the ER, Trauma, ICU, OR, PT, 4th Floor Nurses' and of course Chaplain D.
We wish we could nominate each and every person that cared for him. However, there was one nurse that always went above and beyond for us in any way she could. On Valentine's Day, my husband had early morning surgery. As he woke up from his surgery, he mentioned that he needed to get me something for Valentine's but didn't know how. His nurse, Sara, ran to the gift shop, purchased flowers and had the anesthesiologist write my husband's words on the card. She called my phone to ensure I was in the room waiting for him. Several minutes later she rolls my husband in, holding flowers with the card.
Sara was always compassionate and kindhearted. She made us smile and laugh during a very frightening time. She greeted us with a great big smile each time we saw her. She ensured my husband got the very best care. Thank you for being an exceptional nurse, Sara!
