November 2025 Honoree
Sara White 2025, RN
This nomination is long overdue. Sara was the SDU nurse caring for my patient's mom following her c-section and went the extra mile to facilitate lasting memories with her patient's critically ill baby in the N/IICU. As we were unfortunately running on little time, once stabilized, Sara brought Mom, while still in a stretcher, down to the N/IICU to meet her baby for the first time. She then stayed with her down in the N/IICU, taking her vitals, giving her pain meds, and assessing her to allow her as much time with her newborn son as possible. After the baby's unfortunate passing, Sara still stayed in the N/IICU and helped me create keepsakes for the family, including footprints. Sara went above and beyond to help her patient and the patient's family create permanent memories with their son. It was incredible to come together with a nurse from another unit to care for a family during such a difficult time in their lives. I appreciate all her compassion and help that night, and look forward to working with her again sometime soon.
Thank you, Sara, for your exceptional compassion, advocacy, and dedication to your patients. You truly make a difference.
