Sarah, a nurse on the Family Birth Center, was recognized for going above and beyond for a patient and her family during an urgent situation. Using excellent assessment skills, she accurately gauged the significant blood loss of her patient, who was pregnant, while keeping physicians informed until they developed the appropriate plan of care. When the patient was transferred for treatment, Sarah stayed with the family to help monitor the baby, which comforted the parents.
