Sarah went above and beyond to provide comfort for her patient. Recognizing that her patient was agitated and uncomfortable in the hospital environment. Instead of using unnecessary pharmacological interventions to calm her patient, she implemented environmental changes. Having purchased a personal fan with her own money, she arrived the next day with the gift in hand.
The patient's face lit up with joy when he received his gift. This simple gesture has provided immeasurable comfort for the patient. It has optimized his sleep/wake cycle and ultimately prevented further possible ICU delirium. Gold star for Sarah. She is a very compassionate individual who provides holistic care for her patients.
