In the last 2 months, I have had the honor of encountering this nurse. One time with one family member, and once with another. To say this nurse was built for nursing is an understatement. This nurse's bedside manner is top-notch. The care she provided to my family went above and beyond. Sarah was very comforting and reassuring and eased worries with such gentle care. She answered all of my family's questions with compassion, honesty, and care. She went above and beyond throughout and made sure my family member was comfy and had everything he needed. My other family member was very scared and in a ton of pain. My family member was very anxious, she did not have a good experience with needle sticks, etc. in the past. Sarah came to the rescue! She sat with my family member for several minutes explaining to my family member how the procedure is done, and gave a demo on how it all worked before actually doing it! As a fellow healthcare worker, I appreciated this nurse's care and compassion more than she will ever know. Under no circumstances was she obligated to sit with my family member and walk through the process, but because she truly cares for the patient, the nurse took the time to ease my family member's mind which was also a huge relief t me. OSF SMMC should be honored to have this nurse. Her bedside manner, care, compassion, skill, and knowledge are exceptional! It was a privilege to have this nurse for my family, and she is a leading example for their collogues and they should all strive to be the kind of nurse I am nominating. I want to thank this nurse for the exceptional care provided and the best way I know how is by this nomination.
