We once had a homeless patient on our floor who had been recently evicted from her home. The patient was very stressed about this along with everything else that was going on with her health. The next day, when I came into care for her, she had new belongings in her room: warm blankets, slippers, pillows. She was so elated to have a few items of her own to comfort her. I don't think Sarah ever told anyone, but I knew she bought those items for the patient. She inspired me to be a more giving nurse.
