Sarah exemplifies everything a nurse should be. The list of Sarah’s amazing characteristics is long, but the top attributes include incredibly caring, a critical thinker, a team player, a strong communicator, and a leader.

Sarah works hard every shift. She picks up extra shifts when the unit is short, and she is agreeable to working various shifts depending on where the need is. When Sarah shows up to work, she WORKS. She cares for her patients, making sure they get the highest quality care, regardless if that means getting back-to-back patients or multiple patients at a time. She never compromises the care she provides. Sarah is always a team player. No matter how busy she is, she will always help her coworkers. Whether it’s calling for phlebotomy, paging a doctor, emptying a foley, or changing a CBI bag - you can always rely on her to have your back. One example is when Sarah RAN down from 3G to make sure her evening partner was ok with a patient who was emerging poorly from anesthesia (while the doctor was still in pacu).

Sarah once had an elderly Italian-speaking patient who had spinal anesthesia. So, needless to say, she was with us for a while postop. Sarah used the cyra phone with her to make sure she understood the postop process and that she was comfortable, but what made Sarah’s care stand out was that she googled Italian music and played it for her! The patient was SO happy sitting and listening to Italian music until she was cleared for PACU transfer. It was such a heart warming moment.

Sarah supports her coworkers by coordinating gifts and showers for various celebrations. She also has collaborated on multiple staff appreciation bulletin boards! Sarah led us to success as the PAC Magnet chair.
