When Sarah came into my room at Blodgett Hospital on Thanksgiving Day morning, I was an emotional mess. I could not stop crying. I told her I had great faith in my Lord but was feeling so alone and she responded that Jesus felt alone, too.
Those few words reminded me of His presence, and I could feel the heaviness lift from me. Then she handed me a scripture verse that she had written for herself because she was nervous about coming to Blodgett for the first time to help (she is a nurse at Butterworth). I told her she was sent to me by God. From that point on I felt the best I had in days.
This was my fourth hospital visit in less than six weeks for ileostomy surgery. To experience a nurse with not only fantastic nursing skills but a truly compassionate heart, I will always be grateful for my angel nurse Sarah.
