Beyond her patient care visits, Sarah would frequently pop in the door to inquire how I was doing, fill me in about a call she had with my family, or ask if I had any special needs.
During my 9-day stay in the ICU battling COVID-19, I had several outstanding and caring nurses. But one stood out above the rest. Sara Golias consistently set the bar high. Then she hurdled it. Sarah combines her enthusiasm for nursing care with a kind heart, and behind the mask, a warm smile.
While she made her room visits for nursing care, she was simply more than a nurse - she truly rose above what was expected with kind and caring attention to all my medical needs, as well as my personal side. There always was a personal touch to each visit, asking about family, my interests, and my grandchildren. Sarah added the human touch to a tough and challenging job.
Sarah's passion for patients is remarkable! Beyond her patient care visits, Sarah would frequently pop in the door to inquire how I was doing, fill me in about a call she had with my family, or ask if I had any special needs. I was more than a patient, she treated me as her friend. Sarah clearly interprets "caring" to extend beyond giving medical care. She helped to keep me engaged, hopeful, aware, and for that my entire family and I are truly grateful.
While the doctors, physicians, and specialists are recognized for saving patients from this dreaded pandemic, I want to recognize and acknowledge that Sarah Golias saves her patients with gentle, kind, and exceptional caring!
