Sarah Grace not only listened to me about what was happening to me, but she also took her time to assure me that she did not doubt my pain and would do what was in her power to help find a solution.
I suffered some complications through delivery after my epidural. Sarah Grace came into the night shift after I delivered my son the afternoon before. When she came on shift, I was in more pain than I knew how to handle due to those epidural complications. After speaking with 2 anesthesiologists who were more than convinced I was having issues regarding pulled muscles in my neck, and both of those telling me I just “need some time”, Sarah Grace provided nothing but emotional and mental support through it all. She listened to my concerns, took my pain seriously, and made sure to get me in touch with another anesthesiologist on shift that morning to see if the expected complications were going to warrant a different form of treatment, as I had been complying with their recommended protocol for the pain symptoms for 24 hours with no relief, the pain only getting worse and keeping me from being able to perform simple tasks to care for my newborn. I let my guard down with Sarah Grace, I told her how being told for a third time that I was just having muscle issues was heart breaking. I explained my issues to Sarah again, and she made sure to speak on my behalf that morning. I am not sure who all she spoke with or how she made it happen, but her speaking for me, standing up for what she could see was a genuine issue for her patient in a time of fear and pain, I couldn’t be more thankful for her. Sarah Grace not only listened to me about what was happening to me, but she also took her time to assure me that she did not doubt my pain and would do what was in her power to help find a solution. Sarah Grace understood that I just simply wanted to be able to take care of my newborn. I cannot thank Sarah Grace enough for all she did to make sure I was given the chance to be a mother to my boy in those crucial first 48 hours.
