I was looking to make DAISY Award nomination for an RN that is always standing out. Sarah not only is caring; but great at making sure everyone is on the same page. While working with her I noticed that she will do anything to make sure the patient(s) she is working with are safe. Her communication skills are amazing.
We have a patient that is waiting to go onto comfort cares. In the process of waiting for approval, Sarah talked with the family and explained everything in the family's daily language. To me, this ensured that the family understood what was happening. The family told me they feel very comfortable with her and have even requested that she take over their loved one on the days she is working. When the family is not here she will call two or three times on her shift just give updates, or call them back within a reasonable time frame.
The care she shows in the room is amazing. Sarah takes every chance she can get to talk with her patients or the family to know a little more about them. In return, she is making a big impact on their lives by helping them through this tough situation.
When I am working, I can see the care in her eyes and that she is looking for the best outcome for her patients. She will make sure that not only am I on the same page with her knowing the full situation but also making sure that the other RN(s) understand what was talked about in the room. She knows that we work as a team. In the healthcare field, we need our team members to always be on the same page and willing to go the extra mile. I know by working with her that she is a team player and will go the extra mile for the patient and their families.
