Sarah had enough shifts with her to see both the low times and days of progress back to health and full alertness. As my mother's treatment was nearing toward discharge, Sarah knew that each day it was pushed back, mom became discouraged. My dad and I watched one afternoon as Sarah explained very patiently and compassionately to my mother why she had to stay a little longer. She explained very clearly what was going on and what she needed to do to help herself. She knew exactly what to say at that moment when mom needed it most. She also exhibited superb nursing skills throughout providing exceptional care and attention to detail to make mom more comfortable.
