I've always been scared of hospitals. After getting diagnosed with end-stage liver disease (ESLD) my anxiety has multiplied and amplified because when I get admitted I'm always thinking it is my last time. Sarah greeted me with a smile and happily answered any questions I had, even when I knew she was very busy. She always had a positive attitude while she patiently answered any and all of my questions before I was taken down for my procedure. She actually sat down to tell me what the procedure involved followed by cheering me up by pulling and saying that my blood counts were much better than I thought they were which really, really calmed me down, followed by almost immediately coming to check on me when I was brought back to my room. I've been in and out of hospitals for years since my diagnosis and I can honestly say that she's been the nicest and most attentive nurse that I've ever had and really made me feel safe for the first time ever while I was admitted to a hospital while terminally ill.
