Sarah stood by my mother and my father and sang "Amazing Grace"
The daughter of a patient let us know about the wonderful experience her mom and family had at Southeast with Sarah Householder. The daughter’s mom had problems at first with communication, but she was encouraged to let the nurses know exactly what she needed. Once she spoke up and asked questions, she got exactly what she needed and excellent care. The patient got worse, had a poor prognosis, and made a DNR, the patient was switched over to the Palliative Care program to Hospice.

The CPC staff were excellent, but who stood out even more was a new graduate nurse, Sarah. It was Sarah’s first day out on her own too. Sarah let me know that my father had passed away. My mom was still taking it hard, trying to cope with his passing. Sarah and the Palliative care nurse kept my mom informed and Sarah kept mentioning that they are treating him like she would treat her own father. My mom did not want to leave his bedside. Sarah grabbed my mom’s hands and said "I promise you that we will clean him up like he was my dad and get him where he needs to be." Sarah asked my mom, what was his favorite song is, then Sarah stood by my mother and my father and sang "Amazing Grace".
