Sarah, who was not my assigned nurse, at any point, heard me crying as she was passing my room and came to help.
Everything was going well, and all of my nurses were very nice and helpful until my labor began which coincided with a shift change. My anesthesiologist said that it was possible that my epidural was installed incorrectly because I was not getting the full effect of the pain relief medication. I made many calls to the nursing station and was repeatedly assured that I was next in line to have my epidural re-installed by the anesthesiologist, but the anesthesiologist never came. Eventually, I gave up calling, and as my contractions became stronger I began to scream in pain.

Sarah, who was not my assigned nurse, at any point, heard me crying as she was passing my room and came to help. She immediately determined that my baby’s head was in the incorrect position. Which was causing most of the pain. She put me in a new position that reduced my pain considerably and after a while, my baby’s head returned to the correct position and she took me through the contraction and pushing process. Under her supervision, I had the baby within an hour. Without Sarah, I would’ve been in terrible pain for many hours, which would likely have resulted in a C-section. A special thank you to Sarah, thank you for saving my baby and me.
