Sarah is really pouring her heart, soul, and mind into her patients and families with every move that she makes.
Sarah is truly a special nurse and person in so many ways. Having a baby in the NICU was never something that we expected. But, Sarah made the process so much easier. I will never forget the first few days that my daughter was born. We must have looked exhausted or like we were in complete shock. Either way, Sarah noticed and literally sat down next to me to explain everything that she could and was such a present and calming force, I’m not sure what we would have done without her. She walked us through every step of being a NICU parent and celebrated the little milestones along the way.
Not only is Sarah knowledgeable but she is passionate about what she does. She radiates compassion and care. There truly isn’t another nurse in the institution that is more deserving of this award. Sarah is really pouring her heart, soul, and mind into her patients and families with every move that she makes. Even if it required it staying after her shift to explain things to us or popping in to say hi when she wasn’t our daughter's nurse, she did it with the brightest smile. I remember asking her to assist me in holding the baby and I kept apologizing because I knew that there was a lot of equipment to navigate and I’m sure it wasn’t easy. But, she did it with a smile on her face and politely said that “snuggles were good for the soul”. She truly does go out of her way to make people feel comfortable.
Sarah absolutely said it best when she said "I absolutely love my job. I wouldn’t be here if I didn’t. But, getting to care for these little ones is the true privilege". But, the true privilege is that the babies and their families have a nurse like her in their corner.
