Sarah LaClair greeted me with a smile and introduced herself by name; a courtesy often overlooked. I was in this unit for a colonoscopy which creates natural anxiety for patients. Sarah’s gentle demeanor put me at ease. Her professionalism was balanced with compassion and her presence by making eye contact and being truly available at all times. Although the routine questions were rote to her, each question felt like I was the only patient who had ever been asked these questions. She seemed to not only know and understand each required question, drug interaction, and my previous medical history, but allowed me to ask any and all questions during this pre-op protocol. I appreciated her authenticity, attentiveness, knowledge, and desire to make me feel completely comfortable and relaxed. Her colleagues seem to hold her in high regard.
