Having sickle cell is not an easy thing. I often dread coming to the hospital worrying about how I will be treated and if the pain will be managed. This stay, Sarah made a huge difference in my care without even being my nurse. Little did I know there were multiple sickle cell patients on the unit. To promote ambulation Sarah decided to take us all on a walk together. None of us knew each other, but she came to our rooms, got us up and took the time to walk us down to the cafeteria. Just this few minutes of normalcy made us all feel much better and introduced the 5 of us to each other. We discovered we all were going through the same thing. I really appreciate her effort, kindness, and thoughtfulness. She didn't have to, but she did it anyway. It meant a lot. Thank you.
