Sarah M Barnes, BSN, RN, CEN

Sarah Barnes, an RN from our off-site Emergency Department, was recognized for her willingness and leadership in spearheading the efforts to collect gifts for 6 children who had lost their mother in November 2021. She was touched by the story and wanted to help in any way that she could. Sarah collaborated with the Intensive Care Unit, Surgical Services Department, and both Emergency Departments to keep us moving in the right direction. Time was of the essence, as Christmas was rapidly approaching, and Sarah kept the efforts organized and efficient. Arrangements were made for the family to come to the hospital for us to give them the wrapped gifts. They were beyond appreciative, and in fact told us that this caring gesture has helped them to shift their memories of losing their mother at our hospital, to having a happy memory filled with gratitude for the kindness shown to them during their darkest hours.
