The next day, on her day off, Sarah called to ask if my questions were answered.
While it is difficult to identify one great RN from this unit, Sarah stands out. Sarah is professional, transparent, warm, and knowledgeable. She greets patients, visitors, and colleagues with a warm directness. When I was unable to visit my friend with Acute Myeloid leukemia (AML) who has no family, I called the unit. Sarah returned my call when free. She did not have all the answers and agreed to call me back when she did.
At the end of her shift, she called and did not have the lab results and said she would pass on my phone number to the next shift. The attending physician called because of Sarah. The next day, on her day off, Sarah called to ask if my questions were answered. And she asked the attending to follow up when the echo results were back, and he did. Monitoring a patient’s progress is a designated visitor's responsibility – made easy by Sarah’s diligence. BJC should be proud of Sarah.
