Sarah helped to make sure my birth plan of a natural birth happened by helping push me through the contractions and then the pushing.
Sarah was my nurse during the labor and delivery of my son this past week. I expressed wanting to have a natural birth with my son. Sarah explained how she was there to support me in this decision the whole way but also how it was fine to change my mind at any point. She explained the stages I would go through of labor and at what point I should expect contractions to worsen and about how long that would last from her experience. She made sure I had a peanut ball there and ready, got me a wireless monitor so I wasn’t locked down to the bed, I requested ice and she brought more than enough ice, sprite, and water, and ensured I had plenty of pads and mesh panties. Anything I needed she was more than willing to get for me. Once my husband went to get her to check me and from that point on she stayed with me, following me around to make sure I had what I needed, giving me different ideas for positioning, making sure I had a cold rag, and water, fanning me constantly. Sarah helped to make sure my birth plan of a natural birth happened by helping push me through the contractions and then the pushing. After delivery, I was concerned with my bleeding and Sarah called my doctor instantly to get a shot to help with the bleeding and pushed back me being transferred to postpartum until my bleeding was more controlled and she and I felt more comfortable. In my first pregnancy I have many things that I remember due to them being bad experiences but this pregnancy I will forever remember for the great experience and help from Sarah.
