Her nurturing, calm, and confident nature made us feel that our daughter was in great hands when we weren’t present.
Our daughter needed to be in the NICU for the first 3 days of her life. The NICU team was such a great support for our family, especially Sarah.
Sarah was our baby’s day RN most of the days, and that consistency and security she gave us was monumental. As a new mother, I was unsure of myself and was also trying to learn how to breastfeed. She provided comfort and kindness to everyone in our family. Sarah explained the care she provided to our daughter and then taught us how to learn by doing. Her nurturing, calm, and confident nature made us feel that our daughter was in great hands when we weren’t present. She spoke highly of her teammates. Sarah picked up on my progress as a new mother, reminding me of those milestones. She also answered many of my very frequent questions and reminded me to have confidence in my abilities.
My husband and I had been hoping for a child for over 6 years, and as we both aged into our 40’s we finally tried IVF. As time went on, we were unsure if we’d ever become parents. Our daughter’s arrival was a blessing to our family, and especially my parents, who are now first-time grandparents. When my mother came to visit, my mom said, “It’s hard to believe she’s here.” It was a really emotional moment, and Sarah paid close attention to our fragile emotions, always reading the room, engaging, and giving us a moment as needed.
When my daughter was discharged from the NICU, Sarah showed up with the Caterpillar Chain that they make for babies, which includes their personal milestones. I had no idea that it was even in her room the whole time because I was probably too distracted. It was a really sincere touch that the NICU team creates and keeps track of these things during a time in most parents’ lives that is very stressful. Sarah helped us up to the Labor and Delivery floor upon discharge and communicated our daughter’s stats and needs to the Labor and Delivery RN.
We are forever grateful to Sarah for her care of our daughter in the NICU and the support and guidance she gave to us as parents during our time there as well.
