June 2026 Honoree
Sarah Parks, RN
Sarah provided extraordinary care while my boyfriend was an inpatient post-stroke. She was friendly and very accommodating when I called to check on him, despite it being 7:15 am, and in the middle of report. Once I was able to come up when visiting hours started, I met her and explained that I am also a nurse. She was able to answer several questions I had about labs, imaging, and plan of care. She was very attentive and happy to provide anything we asked for.
The most impressive thing about Sarah is that she took her time with all that she did. The other patient in the room could not ambulate well. Without hesitation, she offered the sit-to-stand to move from the chair to the bed. She made sure she used the sit-to-stand properly, even checking in with another nurse. She offered the bedpan and reassured this patient that it was available if he needed it after getting in bed, because he had a commode and worried about needing to get back up if he needed to use it.
I asked for many things throughout the day, and she never got tired of it. She respected my knowledge as a fellow RN, rather than assuming I would be a high-maintenance visitor because of it. Sarah was pleasant, friendly, and always smiling, no matter the task at hand. She clearly enjoys what she does, and it shows in her care.
I simply cannot say enough about how her presence made a very scary admission so much easier to get through. We can’t thank her enough
