Sarah was the nurse assigned to my daughter the night we arrived and immediately made us all feel welcomed and at ease.
Sarah is an RN in the NICU, and will forever hold a special place in our family's hearts. When my daughter was a month old, we were transferred to the SCH NICU after a difficult and exhausting journey at another hospital, where we were often made to feel like an inconvenience in our child's care. Sarah was the nurse assigned to my daughter the night we arrived and immediately made us all feel welcomed and at ease.
We received some difficult news regarding our daughter's condition upon arrival, and Sarah not only took care of our daughter but us as her parents as well. She constantly asked us how we were doing, and if we needed anything, and valued our input in our daughter's care. She was assigned to our daughter the next few nights, and it was clear that she shared a special bond with our daughter (and us). We asked her to be our primary, and she happily accepted.
Our daughter was in the SCH NICU for the next 3 months, and we were so thrilled any time Sarah was working and assigned to her. For many parents, the NICU is understandably a daunting and stressful place, but for us, we hold many fond memories of our time there. Sarah is a big reason why. Her caring nature, calmness, positive attitude, sense of urgency, humor, and advocacy all make her an outstanding nurse that any patient would be lucky to have. Our daughter is now a year old and thriving. We still have frequent visits to SCH and are always happy to see Sarah when we are there. She shows as much love and care for our daughter now as she did when she was her patient, and we are so happy to say that we will stay connected for life!
