I was making a home visit with another nurse on orientation. We were scheduled to change a port needle on a cancer patient who was on a PCA pump to control her pain. We were both unable to re-access the patient's port, which made the patient anxious. I called the Cancer Center for assistance and spoke to one of the cancer nurses and immediately Sarah came to the patient's (and ours!) aide. Our Cancer Center nurse was able to re-access the patient's port and we were able to get her pain medication infusion again.
Sarah shows excellent compassion for our patients and commitment to her co-workers. Thank you for coming to the rescue!
