Sarah Rakocy is a fairly new nurse and was able to come to the Trauma ICU as a GN. Since then she has proven to be a huge asset to our team, She is extremely thorough, she does not cut corners when it comes to patient care, she has a gentle bedside manner but is a firm patient advocate and keeps a high level of professionalism at all times. She is a pleasure to work with and is at the top of the list of nurses that I would have care for my own family. I am nominating her for DAISY because of what I saw last night.

It was another busy and long day for Sarah in Trauma ICU and I was coming back in. When Sarah was on her way out to her car she noticed a former ICU patient in a wheel chair outside with her family. The patient had been transferred to the floor last week after a few weeks being in the ICU and her family was taking her out for some fresh air. Instead of just waving and going home Sarah walked over and spent several minutes hugging and visiting with the patient and family. The genuine care for her patients shows every day in Sarah's practice and we are lucky to have her.
