Sarah is an excellent nurse who goes above and beyond the call of duty for all her patients. Sarah takes the time to educate patients and their family members on new medications and compliance while also actively listening and addressing their concerns. One instance Sarah was taking care of a patient who admitted to self-medicating. She took the time to address the concerns about specific medications and their side-effects and tried to alleviate the patient's frustrations. Sarah then addressed the patient's daughter's concerns and offered emotional support to her as she discussed her worry about her mother's deteriorating condition. The patient's daughter expressed gratefulness for Sarah's time and patience stating she felt blessed to have Sarah working with her mother.
On another occasion, Sarah was taking care of a woman who was critically ill. This patient was admitted 2 days before her son's High School graduation and relayed her grief and worry of missing this big day. Sarah took this information to Care Management and they granted the patient a day pass to attend the graduation. The day after the graduation, the patient expressed appreciation and thankfulness for Sarah's hard work and dedication in helping her meet this goal.
Sarah routinely participates in Kaizens, works as a charge nurse, precepts new nurses, and volunteers for meetings, interviews, and other needs for the unit. She is a patient advocate and demonstrates the vision of a Beaumont Nurse through critical thinking skills and use of the nursing process in patient care. Sarah Ransom is a top notch nurse.

When I became the Adm Mgr of 6N in 2013, the staff referred to Sarah as the one who would be running Beaumont one day. She had been known by the staff since she was an NA and they watched her grow into a Nurse Tech. , and now a competent RN. Sarah is known by her peers as someone with the utmost professionalism, integrity, and compassion for her patients and their families. Sarah is a true asset to her the team as an active team member and role model for all staff.
