Sarah was instructed to discharge a patient but realized that the patient had an inappropriate amount of post-surgical pain. She declined the discharge and the patient was subsequently diagnosed with a hematoma. Her advocacy for this patient ensured this patient's safety. The patient was discharged later with stable blood levels and less pain.
