Sarah Scoins is an amazing RN. A Versant graduate, she is always seeking opportunity to help and learn. During the past year, there were two BICU day shift RNs on leave. She saw the need and volunteered to work 2 days a week in BICU and one day in her home unit ICU. While in the BU, she provided excellent care to the burn patients. These patients often come back to thank her for the care she provided. She also supports these patients on her own time by selling raffle tickets, attends their Fund Raisers to buy prosthesis, maintaining email correspondence to support the patients emotionally. She gives herself 100% to all the patients she takes care of.
After attending a terminal patient for a lengthy stay, she managed to take time out of her busy schedule to attend the patient’s funeral. She works full time and attends school full time for a MSN degree. She volunteers herself on various unit projects. Her latest is a Sepsis protocol. She researches for the latest evidence, works with the intensivist and identifies documents to perfect the protocol. During her annual evaluation, she emails the leads for their feedback on how she can improve herself. She writes with an earnest sincerity for this feedback. Sarah is well deserving of the DAISY Award.
