She wasn't just caring and attentive to her own patients; Sarah showed deep compassion and generosity toward me, her colleague
During one of my recent shifts, I was floated to the ICU, a unit I'm not familiar with. I was assigned two very busy and heavy patients, and the overwhelming nature of the ICU quickly became apparent. The pace, the unfamiliar environment, and the sheer number of tasks made me feel like I was drowning. That's when Sarah stepped in. Not because she was assigned to help, but simply because they saw a coworker in need and refused to let me struggle alone.

While I was occupied in one patient's room, Sarah seamlessly stepped in to help with the other. Every time I had to move between rooms, Sarah was already there, managing tasks, checking in on the patient, and making sure nothing was missed. Her presence gave me a sense of stability in what could have been a chaotic day. One of the moments that stood out to me the most was when, despite having a busy assignment of her own, Sarah made sure I stepped away to take care of myself. Around 2 a.m., I hadn't sat down once or even had a sip of water. Sarah noticed, brought me a full cup of water, and kindly made sure I drank it all. That small but deeply thoughtful act reminded me that she wasnt just caring for her patients, she was caring for me, too.

In that moment, she supported not just my physical well-being, but my mental health as well. She wasn't just caring and attentive to her own patients; Sarah showed deep compassion and generosity toward me, her colleague. She understood the pressure I was under and made my day not only manageable but meaningful. Her teamwork, kindness, and quiet leadership truly stood out. Im incredibly grateful for her support that day, and I believe she exemplifies everything the DAISY Award represents.
