Sarah Simmons, RN
It is my distinct pleasure to write this DAISY nomination letter for Sarah Simmons, RN. Sarah has worked at Continuing Care Hospital for the past 13 years, during which time she has been an unwavering pillar of exceptional nursing care, consistently exemplifying the core values of this prestigious award.
Sarah is, without hesitation, a truly wonderful critical care nurse. Her exceptional clinical ability and sharp judgment are evident in all her patient interactions. Sarah possesses an intuitive understanding of complex medical situations, allowing her to anticipate needs and intervene effectively, often preventing escalations. Her ability to navigate high-pressure situations with calm and precision is truly remarkable and provides great reassurance to both her patients and her colleagues.
Beyond her outstanding clinical skills, Sarah acts as a dedicated advocate for her patients. She consistently ensures that their voices are heard and their wishes are respected, even when they are unable to articulate them themselves. Sarah strives to understand her patients and their individual needs, concerns, and fears, effectively communicating these to the medical team. Families frequently express their comfort and trust in Sarah, knowing their loved ones are in her compassionate and capable hands.
Sarah is genuinely caring and compassionate, treating her patients and their families with profound empathy and offering a comforting presence. She extends this nurturing presence to training new staff. Sarah acts as a dedicated mentor, preceptor, and role model for her colleagues, significantly aiding in the quality patient care provided at CCH, as well as fostering the growth of future nurses in the profession.
