I nominate Sarah Smith for the DAISY Award because every single shift she demonstrates truly compassionate care even in the midst of trying and stressful situations. Sarah is very in-tune with patients needs and takes the extra time to deliver truly patient centered care. She treats all of her patients with respect and strives to make their hospital experience as comfortable as possible. She is one of the few nurses who is known to stay late to take a patient who is feeling down, out to 3E garden area just to lift their spirits and make them feel better about their hospital stay. Sarah is also very attentive to special events in patients lives and has even gone out of her way to bring in a patients favorite candy bar or snack they have been craving.

A recent example of her caring spirit was when she made a patient's birthday special by baking him a homemade pie and bringing in his favorite root-beer. It is the little acts of kindness that sets her apart and make her not only a great nurse, but a truly outstanding one.
