When my husband was in the DHR ICU I began writing down caregivers who we felt had gone above and beyond the call of duty. I want to ensure they get the recognition they deserve. Then we had the amazing luck of meeting Sarah Stein. She completely blew everyone else out of the water! I had to stop and re-evaluate what it meant to suggest someone for this award. She deserves it ten times over.

We always made a point to request her as she did such a good job at making my husband comfortable and safe. We fully believe she was a huge part in Hector feeling better and getting out of the ICU when he did. She took the time to talk to us and learn what works for him. She comforted him like a mom would their child when he was feeling down or having a tough time with a medication. And let's face it, when we are sick we all want to be taken care of with the same attention and compassion of a mom. Sarah made a huge effort in breaking up the monotony of a long ICU stay and even let us have some fun on Halloween and remember that laughter and love is just as important as the medicines, etc. I cannot praise her enough. We are not religious but we both believe that God gave us an angel that we needed to get him better.
