Sarah encouraged me and was a great cheerleader for me as I took some early steps and found my comfort zone following surgery. Nothing was forced and she allowed me to work at my own pace, which gave me, confidence.
I had a massive heart attack and was med-flighted from John Randolph Hospital to Chippenham where it became evident that my heart attack was so severe that triple bypass surgery was in order. Following my surgery, I was extremely fortunate to have Nurse Stephan for an entire day as my caregiver. During my twelve days at Chippenham, I had many nurses. Sarah was an Extraordinary Nurse and I want to thank for the following traits.
Knowledge - my nurse was able to explain to me in terms that I could understand what was going on. She answered questions patiently and thoroughly. She used her words carefully and made me feel at ease in recovery.
Beside manner - one could not ask for someone better. We often hear about patients being mistreated or ignored but Sarah was a gem. I don't think I waited longer than 20 seconds for her to respond and being that I was not her only patient, I find that extraordinary.
Personality - Sarah possesses a wonderful personality. She is pleasant, reassuring, and very friendly. She shows she cares for you and is willing to talk and discuss things, which make a patient feel as though she truly cares, and I believe she does.
Willingness to make me improve - Sarah encouraged me and was a great cheerleader for me as I took some early steps and found my comfort zone following surgery. Nothing was forced and she allowed me to work at my own pace, which gave me, confidence.
Overall, Sarah was a true All-Star as far as I was concerned. She is knowledgeable and has deep compassion for her patients. If she is a representation of the nursing staff at Chippenham Hospital, then you are in great shape for years to come. I applaud her effort. She is a true DAISY Nurse and should be recognized for her overall contributions to the hospital and to medicine in general.
