She creates a welcoming and inclusive space where I felt empowered as a new mom, but also as a human, to make my own care decisions informed by evidence, biology, and my own intuition.
I received exceptional patient care myself when I first met Sarah, who was around 36 weeks pregnant. Sarah is one of the best care providers I have ever met, and that is not an exaggeration. From the moment I met her, she made me feel supported, cared for, and understood. I am particularly appreciative of her respect for my bodily autonomy and boundaries by not only asking me if I had a history of abuse or trauma, but also asking my permission to touch me each and every time I've seen her. No healthcare provider has ever asked my permission before touching me, but Sarah consistently does and always allows me to change my mind if I want or need to. That level of care, although maybe nuanced and not needed by all patients, shows me how deeply she cares for the person she is helping. She creates a welcoming and inclusive space where I felt empowered as a new mom, but also as a human, to make my own care decisions informed by evidence, biology, and my own intuition. I'm genuinely excited to have appointments with her because I know I'm stepping into an environment filled with kindness and respect and community. She champions both my care and the care of my son, and I'm truly grateful to her. She's changed my perspective on what it means to be a healthcare provider and a fellow person in our society, and what I've learned from her (not even just about breastfeeding) has been invaluable and will stay with me the rest of my life. My family and friends even see the difference in my attitude and confidence whenever I see her, which is a true testament to her impact. THANK YOU a million times over, Sarah, for being truly exceptional and remarkable.
