Not only did she seem to totally care about my dad, but she cared to make sure she explained clearly what was going on with him and his condition, what task and treatments would be administered, and when to expect the doctor to come in for a consult.
Thank you, Sarah, God Bless you and your kindness and caring. You’re exceptional! Hats off to Sarah! Well, I am not a stranger to Emergency Rooms, especially from raising 4 of my children, and most especially my oldest son, who passed away from sarcoma cancer after a 12-year fight and was in the E.R. more times than I can count. What I observed from Sarah today was her 100 percent attention to my dad. Most nurses come, and then they go away, and other nurses come in, and that can repeat many times. You can't see how much they know about the patient’s condition. But Sarah was different; not only did she seem to totally care about my dad, but she cared to make sure she explained clearly what was going on with him and his condition, what task and treatments would be administered, and when to expect the doctor to come in for a consult. They looked on the list of patients the doctor had to see first before he had to come in for the consult. It was amazing knowing he was 13th in line and might be seen sooner because of the oxygen machine he was on. In the past, I had never had any idea when the doctor would come in to speak about the patient. She was just so loving and kind to my dad. I've truly never seen a more caring and dedicated nurse in the E.R. than Sarah. I could see her someday training nurses. I can only pray she does this because she has so much to teach other nurses. At times in the E.R., I felt personally that many nurses did not seem to care about me and my family members or the patient or anything I was going through. However, she did, and she made me feel like my dad and I mattered to her.
