A big thank you to Our Angel Sarah at Reid hospital.
My husband and I went for a routine sçheduled appointment for baçk pain that was beçoming more pàinful .We were sent to get a CT scan, which showed that the L1 was shattered. We were sent to Reid ER for làbs and evaluation. After a chain of different tests, etc., we were given the devastating news that he had Multiple Myeloma.
After being admitted, he developed atrial fibrillation, DVT rt lower extremity, and a light stroke, which held up the surgery because of starting heparin. We were not only physically drained, but also emotionally drained. D started becoming confused and sometimes combative at night. This is where Sarah Swanson comes into the picture. From day one, she became our Angel with a stethoscope. She was always willing to take time to listen, and she learned his likes and dislikes. He told her at one time about liking old music, at his most confusing and combative times, she would turn on an old rock station, which calmed him. Not only did she care about his needs, etc., but she would also make sure she asked me if I needed anything. His surgeon told us the night he came back from surgery would be a bad night for confusion, and it was. I knew Sarah was assigned a different assignment, and I was shocked to see her walking into his room. I said, "What are you doing here?" She said, "I asked his nurse if she'd trade." We could go on and on about everything she did, but honestly, I'd be writing all day. She was always professional, calm, and kind, caring for D. Today is our 13th day here, and we are hoping to be transported to Rehab if his hemoglobin improves. I feel Sarah went above and beyond with her care and compassion shown to D and me. A big thank you to Our Angel Sarah at Reid hospital.
