During one of her scheduled night shifts, this nurse comes to visit former coworkers working on another unit for what I thought was “just a visit.” But no, she has a plus 1, one of her assigned patients for the night. We started chatting with this nurse, who told us that this patient was extremely restless and wanted to go for a walk, as the patient is a former third shift worker herself at this hospital. 

After giving this patient some cookies, this nurse informed us that this was the patient’s favorite snack.  This nurse also shared that she recently took this patient’s clothes home to be washed and dried.  Wow!  But it gets better…. This nurse then shared with us that she needed to clock back in from her lunch break in five minutes.  

She had taken her own small break to take her patient on a walk to a nearby floor. If you know this nurse personally, she cares for her disabled sister and sickly mother at home. Her caring heart extends to both home and the hospital. Small acts of kindness go a long way and this nurse deserves to be recognized for going above and beyond.
