Sarah was our sister's nurse throughout the majority of her stay which made the stay comforting and as fun as possible. She fit right in with our antics and humor.
Sarah received 2 nominations from the family!

*** Our 21-year-old sister was a patient for less than a week, but can sometimes be a frequent flyer of Norton Children's Hospital CICU. She was admitted due to an irregular heartbeat, and being a transplant can be very alarming. The first night she was admitted, she was scheduled for a CATH to determine whether her heart was in rejection or not. Although we have been through this procedure before, Sarah was there for us every step of the way. Our sister had to be intubated during the procedure which was an experience that we siblings had not seen firsthand with her in a very long time. Sarah was able to explain step by step what was happening and was very comforting to our sister throughout the whole process. When it was time to remove the tube, Sarah went above and beyond to ensure our sister was comfortable and safe enough for the RT to perform her job. Sarah was our sister's nurse throughout the majority of her stay which made the stay comforting and as fun as possible (she fit right in with our antics and humor). Every time we came to visit and we saw Sarah in the room, we knew the day was going to go smoothly and our sister would have everything she needed. Sarah is a smart, hard-working nurse who not only does more than what she is required to do for her patients but also helps her coworkers out on the floor when they need it. We would be honored to nominate Sarah for a DAISY Award, whole-heartedly knowing she takes immense care of each of her patients.

*** My sister is currently hospitalized at Norton Children's Hospital CICU in Louisville KY. Sarah worked Friday, Saturday, and Sunday for 12 hours per shift. On Monday, my other sister and my mom woke up to find Sarah as my sister's nurse. She informed them that she asked her Charge Nurse that if she were to work tomorrow (Monday), would she be on my sister's assignment, her Charge Nurse said yes. She didn't hesitate to put herself on the schedule for one more day. She decided that she had a good weekend and was enjoying her assignment, taking care of my sister. My sister is a sassy, hilarious, backtalking, special needs 21-year-old who is adored by her family and friends. To watch Sarah take such amazing and careful care of my sister, was inspiring and nurturing to my family. Friday was our Brother's first birthday following his death in November 2022. Being at the hospital was not in anyone's plan. I am grateful for Sarah. She fit right in with us!
