From our beginning emails, Sarah immediately put me at ease and provided me with hope. She was and continues to be the most encouraging.
I am officially a mother of two. I wanted to take a moment to tell you a little bit about my journey as a mom, to better illustrate the large impact that Sarah Wall has made on my life. Not only that, but I can confidently say she has made on the life of many others as well.

After my son was first born, I came down with a severe case of double mastitis, battling fevers upwards of 103.5 and the other symptoms of mastitis. I couldn’t pump my way through it let alone get my son to latch. We found out later he was also tongue-tied so our latch was never great to begin with. I was directed to the help of another lactation consultant. With all of this, I wasn’t able to breastfeed, and I felt like a horrible mother. This fed into what would later be a serious case of postpartum.

Fast forward to the birth of my daughter. On the fourth day when my milk started to come in I became engorged and couldn’t pump, and when my daughter did latch, nothing would come out. I was turning into a ball of anxiety as I feared I would have mastitis again. I didn’t want to seek the help of the prior lactation consultant; I didn’t want to revisit that again. It was through a Facebook group of women who have given birth at Dupont that I was directed to Sarah Wall.

From our beginning emails, Sarah immediately put me at ease and provided me with hope. She was and continues to be the most encouraging. When we had my first visit she provided me with so much valuable information and I walked away not only having breastfed my daughter but also with a container of milk to begin my first stockpile of milk. I felt confident, I was overjoyed and ran to my husband with this great news. None of this would be possible if it weren’t for Sarah.

All I could think about was how I had been connected to Sarah with my firstborn, maybe I would have been able to breastfeed then, too. It has been a mission of mine to now refer other moms to Sarah and her expertise so no one will find themselves in the depressing rut I found myself in the first time.

Sarah doesn’t just help work through engorgement and latching. She helps new moms take the leap into motherhood with reassurance and confidence. Over and over she would tell me that I am made for this, that I can do this, and that I am a great mother. It is so often when a baby is born it seems that the mother fades into the background as everything now becomes about the baby. Sarah helped me see that my well-being is just as important.

In short, Sarah is an absolute saint. With her help, I am able to breastfeed my daughter with a strong milk supply and bond with her in a way that cannot be described. But most importantly, she helped me see that I am a great mom. So as I move milk to make milk I’m also moving myself in a strong direction to grow as a mom and be the best I can be for my children. For that Sarah, I thank you!
